Christmas is a time to celebrate the Christian message of hope, love and peace and enjoy the company of family and friends. It is a time to reflect and look to the future. After all the problems of the past year, whether at home, with people losing their jobs and businesses as a result of the recession, or abroad, with war, hunger and deprivation, we all hope for a better 2010.

Labour’s Budget, announced in the House of Commons today, shows clearly that the public finances are out of control. Labour is doubling the national debt to £1.4trillion, and our budget deficit will be the worst in the G20. As a result of this borrowing binge, every child will be born owing £22,500. Britain can not afford another five years of Labour incompetence.
