Celebrating Barnehurst
David Evennett MP and his wife Marilyn, and Bexley Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Bernard Clewes and Mrs Edna Clewes were among the guests at the Barnehurst Festival held on Saturday 27 June at St Martin’s Church, Barnehurst.
The fundraising fun day was an event to celebrate living and working in Barnehurst. The day was filled with entertainment, arena performances, sideshows, stalls, refreshments, activities, displays, and music. A parade marched through the side roads of Barnehurst from the Methodist Church to St Martins Church prior to the start of the event.
The Mayor officially opened the Festival and Mr Evennett, as a local resident, spoke about Barnehurst and its history. Uniformed organisations including the scouts, cubs, brownies, guides, St Johns Ambulance, Community Police, the TA and British Legion members were also among those present.
