Welcome to my website
The Labour Government is failing to tackle the problems facing Britain. The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, is failing every test of leadership by putting his own short-term political future ahead of the long-term needs of Bexleyheath and Crayford, and the whole of Britain. The include:
The rising cost of living: Prices of many basic household items - bread, butter and eggs - have risen drastically in recent months. Gas and electricity prices have also jumped, with the price of oil constantly rising. Families and pensioners are struggling with little support from the Government. A Conservative Government would support the family unit by shifting the tax burden away from families and the low-paid.
Higher taxes: As a result of changes made in this year’s Budget, each household in Britain is on average £110 each worse off, with 70% of motorists faced with higher vehicle excise duty. Stealth taxes on alcohol to the tune of £1.5billion have also been levied.
The 10p compensation con: 5.3million people would have been made worse off as a result of the abolition of the 10p tax rate. After the package announced by the Chancellor on Tuesday (13 May), 1.1 million low-earners, on incomes between £6,635 and £13,355, will still lose out by up to £112 a year.
Failure to act on violent crime: The 2003 Criminal Justice Act was presented as the centrepiece of Labour’s attack on crime, but much of it has either been scrapped or not even implemented. Also, because of their failure to build enough prison places, Labour have now resorted to releasing prisoners early through the End of Custody Licence scheme
No new ideas: The draft Queen’s Speech had nothing to do with the long-term needs of the country, was more about Gordon Brown’s short-term political survival. Any policies of substance in the statement were first proposed by the Conservatives, such as an NHS constitution for patients’ rights, extension of the right to request flexible working, and an independent exam regulator.
Gordon Brown has shown that he has not got the ideas or policies required to run Britain. Labour has run out of steam and is floundering from one crisis to another.
